Proposals for the review of the WATTC-88 resolutions, recommendations and opinion
1.1 In accordance with Council-09 Resolution 1312, a working group of the Council was set up to prepare for the 2012 world conference on international telecommunications (WCG-WCIT-12). The terms of reference of the working group include preparing proposals to revise and/or abrogate, as appropriate, the WATTC-88 resolutions, recommendations and opinion, and to prepare proposals, as appropriate, for draft new resolutions, recommendations and opinions for consideration by WCIT.
1.2 In view of the rapid and constant development of ICTs and the fact that, after more than two decades, many of the provisions of the WATTC-88 resolutions, recommendations and opinion have become obsolete, there is a need for careful consideration of those instruments and their revision or abrogation as necessary. Moreover, consideration should be given to the possibility/need to draw up draft new resolutions, recommendations and opinions for submission to WCIT. Obviously, this task will entail quite a significant amount of work.
