ITU Secretary-General outlines Internet power-grab strategy

The head of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Hamadoun Touré has given the first indications over how he and his staff will handle an upcoming diplomatic fight over control of the Internet.

Speaking at a telecom and Internet conference in Beirut last week, Touré trod a very careful line but nonetheless made it clear to those who are able to translate the nuances of UN-speak that the ITU will go for a power-grab over the Internet at its meeting in Dubai this December.
